Woman Arrested After Allegedly Throwing Child In Stroller Down Subway Stairs
Witnesses called police.
A 25-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly threw her 2-year-old son down the stairs at a New York subway station while he was strapped in a stroller.
The woman was reportedly at the 149th Street-Grand Concourse station on Thursday when the incident occurred.
The toddler reportedly suffered a cut to his left eye and an abrasion to his head.
A witness told ABC7 that he was horrified.
"He [the toddler] was all busted up by the time they brought him up," John Smith told the station. "Baby was screaming, busted his eye, his nose was bleeding, blood was coming out of his mouth, his head was bleeding."
It was not immediately clear why the woman, identified as Jessica Mixon, allegedly flung the child.
Police said Mixon admitted that she threw her son.
Witnesses called police after seeing the violence, according to WABC.
Mixon was taken to a nearby hospital to undergo psychological evaluation, according to reports.
Mixon faces charges of reckless assault on a child, reckless endangerment and abandonment. She pleaded not guilty on Friday.
