Tyler Noe was riding his bike on the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway when he was struck by a Volvo driven by Marshall Grant Neely III, 58, who is the dean of students at the nearby University School of Nashville.
Video of the incident shows Noe trying to regain composure, as the Volvo that hit him disappears in the distance.
“Out of nowhere I just got hit on the left side,” he told Inside Edition.
Noe said he is bedridden and has “gotta stay stationary for a while,” adding that a majority of his injuries happened in his legs and he has trouble feeling his left one.
The video helped identify the suspect after capturing the license plate of the fleeing vehicle.

Noe's buddy, Greg Goodman, watched the accident unfold and told Inside Edition: "I literally, at that moment thought Tyler had been killed."
The University School of Nashville says Neely has been placed "on leave of absence while we investigate."
In a statement to The Tennessean, school spokeswoman Juanita Traughber said: “All other matters related to his employment are confidential. We appreciate the work of law enforcement on this matter and will cooperate fully with their investigation. Our thoughts are with the cyclist and his family as well as the Neely family during this difficult time."
