Jansen Simon, 30, had been wanted for aggravated second-degree battery since 2013.
A Louisiana man, who cops say has managed to avoid arrest in a 2013 assault case since 2013, was arrested over the weekend after flagging down a police cruiser.
Fugitive Jansen Simon was walking along LA Highway 182 in Raceland when he flagged down a deputy early Sunday, according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre.

Simon reportedly told the deputy he was traveling with friends when they left him on the side of the roadway.
After verifying Simon’s identity, he was taken into custody on an active warrant related to an assault case for which he'd been a wanted man since 2013.
Simon, 30, was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked for aggravated second-degree battery, as well as two counts of contempt of court.
Simon had been wanted since August 3, 2013, when police say they responded to a complaint outside a bar in the town of Cut Off.
Upon arrival, deputies say they learned two men had been arguing when one of the men, later identified as Simon, allegedly struck the other man with a hammer before fleeing the scene.
