Police Dispatcher Asks Cops to Help Him Propose During Traffic Stop
A Texas woman was shocked when a police officer pulled her over.
She was a wanted woman, but not by the cops.
A Texas police dispatcher enlisted the help of one of his co-workers when he proposed to his girlfriend during a traffic stop she won't soon forget.
Amanda Radican was in tears when Grapevine Police Officer Chad Hale pulled her over on July 7 and commanded her to step out of the car.
“I thought there was a huge misunderstanding,” she told InsideEdition.com. “I’ve never been in trouble ever before.”
That's when Radican’s boyfriend, Stephen Smith, who spent weeks planning the big moment, appeared — and presented an engagement ring.
“I figured this would be perfect," Smith said. "It’s totally us. We like to pull jokes on each other."
Officer Hale captured the scene on video with his body camera.
Smith's plan was to purposely leave his cell phone at home and ask Radican to bring it to him at work.
Officer Hale and Smith tracked the phone while Radican drove to drop it off. Hale then pulled her over, asked her to step outside of the car, saying there were warrants out for her vehicle.
“After I turned around and saw him down on one knee, everything was so relieved,” Radican said. “I was overjoyed he was finally proposing.”
Smith kept the theme going during his proposal, saying, "399, it is confirmed. She is wanted by me."
Of course, Radican said yes, and the couple plans to wed next July. Until then, Smith says he will be on high alert for potential pranks.
“We like to have fun,” Smith said. “So I’m expecting revenge sometime in the future.”
