The Oscar-winning actress opened up about her health issues in the September issue of Vanity Fair.
She said the disorder, which causes facial nerves to become damaged, led to the drooping of one side of her face.
She said it was one of several health problems that developed as she and her children tried to move forward following the split.
“Sometimes women in families put themselves last until it manifests itself in their own health,” she told the magazine.
Jolie divorced Pitt last year, and in the months that followed, she was reportedly living out of suitcases in a rental home with her children.
Jolie also revealed she developed hypertension, noticeably drier skin and extra gray hairs.
“I can’t tell if it’s menopause or if it’s just been the year I’ve had,” she told Vanity Fair.
She also had a preventative double mastectomy in 2013 when she discovered the BRCA1 gene, and in 2015, she had her ovaries removed to prevent ovarian cancer.

The star credits acupuncture for helping her recover from Bell’s palsy.
“I actually feel more of a woman because I feel like I’m being smart about my choices, and I’m putting my family first, and I’m in charge of my life and my health," she told the magazine. "I think that’s what makes a woman complete."
