Former Teacher Who Had Sex With Student in Cemetery Gets 3 Years in Jail
The female teacher acknowledged having sex with a male student while employed by a private Christian school, authorities said.
An Alabama teacher who admitted to having sex with a student in a graveyard has been sentenced to three years behind bars.
Charli Jones Parker, 31, had sexual relations several times with the male teenager, sometimes in a cemetery, authorities said.
She was an instructor and head coach of the girls’ basketball team at Pickens Academy, a private Christian school in Alabama.
She was arrested in March 2016. Days later, her husband — also a teacher at Pickens — was arrested and charged with having sex with a former female student.
His trial is scheduled to begin in November.
The ages of the victims have not been released.
Alabama law prohibits sex between teachers and students under the age of 19.
Charli Parker was later charged with having sex with a second student, but that count, along with several others that included deviant sexual relations, were dropped under a plea agreement, prosecutors said.
Both teachers were fired by the academy.
