How Celebs, Athletes and Ordinary Citizens Are Helping Harvey Victims: 'We're All in This Together'

Celebrities have joined millions of Americans helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Lady Antebellum canceled their Houston concert that was set for Sunday and has now turned their Dallas show into a benefit.

"All our merch proceeds will be going towards hurricane relief funds," the group tweeted Sunday.

Country star Chris Young donated $100,000 to the Red Cross, and posted a heartfelt video on social media.

Funnyman Kevin Hart is also doing his part, and urging his high-powered friends to join him. He was initially giving $25,000 to relief efforts, but has since upped the ante to $50,000 and asked everyone to do whatever they can.

He even called out the stars he hopes will help out, including Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Z, Chris Rock, Beyonce, The Rock, Justin Timberlake and Steve Harvey, among others.

Beyonce, who was born in Houston, didn't need any prodding, posting an image of the Texas state flag on her Instagram page with the words, “Texas You Are In My Prayers.”

Houston Texans star J.J. Watt started a crowd funding page on YouCaring.com and offered to match the first $100,000 donations.

Within 24 hours, his goal was surpassed and he raised $500,000, including a $50,000 donation from NBA star Chris Paul, who recently signed with the Houston Rockets. Watt has now raised his goal to $1 million.

Since the hurricane touched down over the weekend, an armada of boats manned by volunteers has been going through neighborhoods left underwater in Houston, looking for stranded people.

News crews are also helping out as they cover the storm.

One of them was a team from CNN that found 86-year-old Elmore Jones and his wife trapped in their house and pulled them to safety aboard their boat.

The Cajun Navy, a group of volunteers from Louisiana, is in Houston working to help those who are stranded.

Help is coming from all corners; including 80 first responders from New York City who are packing supplies before heading to Texas to do what they can.
