Military Mom, Deployed for Months, Surprises 11-Year-Old Son in School Classroom: 'He's My World'

She had been deployed for 10 months.

A Florida boy excitedly jumped into the arms of his military mom as she surprised him at his middle school following a 10-month deployment.

Chasmine Banks, a U.S. Navy officer, paid a visit to Mowat Middle School in Lynn Haven on Monday to surprise her 11-year-old son Gabriel, and she said she was nervous about the moment.

“I'm excited, and I'm just ready to have him in my arms," Banks, Petty Officer 3rd Class, told WJHG before the surprise. “I'm shaking. I haven't seen him in seven months, so Feb. 6 was the last time I saw my son and apparently he's grown a lot since I left."

It was Banks’ second deployment. The mom said she was working to surprise Gabriel after her first deployment, but her mom passed away and she had to come home early so he knew she was coming.

In a video captured of the special moment, Banks walked into her son’s classroom to greet him and he immediately ran to her and enthusiastically jumped into her arms.

It was an emotional reunion for both of them. Banks said that although Gabriel has grown quite a bit, the pair are still as close as ever.

"He's my life. He's my world. I do this for him," Banks said. "This is why I'm in this uniform,"
