The shocking news that Marie Osmond's 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide on Friday has put Marie and her family into deep shock. He was reported to suffer from depression. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Marie Osmond is mourning the death of her son Michael. The 18-year-old jumped to his death from an apartment in downtown Los Angeles.
Michael Blosil was reportedly suffering from depression. Yet Marie was shocked when Larry King brought up her son's troubles in 2007.
"I know that Michael is in rehab," said King.
"Yes, he's dealing with a lot of issues. He is the most amazing kid," said Osmond.
Just before he leaped to his death, Michael texted a friend to look in his apartment for a message. It turned out to be a suicide note.
Michael was a fashion student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, a couple of blocks away.
Marie Osmond has eight children, five of them adopted. She's been a show biz fixture since she was just three years old, when she appeared with her brothers on The Andy Williams Show.
In 2007, she famously passed out while appearing on Dancing with the Stars.
Marie was in Las Vegas where she was performing with her brother Donny when she got the terrible news about her son. The show at the Flamingo hotel has been canceled until further notice.
Michael is the second child of a celebrity to commit suicide recently after battling depression. Growing Pains star Andrew Koenig, the son of Star Trek's Mr. Chekov, was found dead in a Vancouver park on February 25th.
Marie issued this statement: "My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Her brother Donny said, "Please pray for my sister and her family."
The Los Angeles County Coroner has ordered an autopsy to see if drugs or alcohol played a role in the young man's death.
