Toddlers and Tiaras Hooker Costume Sparks Uproar

INSIDE EDITION talks to the mother of a Toddlers and Tiaras contestant who is facing backlash for dressing up her 3-year-old daughter as the hooker character Julia Roberts played in the movie Pretty Woman for the competition.

All of America is asking the mother at the center of the latest Toddlers and Tiaras controversy why she dressed her daughter as a prostitute.

Wendy Dickey caused an uproar when she dressed her 3-year-old daughter Paisley as the Julia Roberts hooker from Pretty Woman.

INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney spoke with Dickey.

McInerney asked, "What possessed you to dress your daughter as a prostitute?"

"There was an option in there to do celebrity wear and my favorite actress of all times is Julia Roberts. So what's Julia Roberts famous for, what's her best movie? We decided to go with Pretty Woman. So I made her an outfit that's very non-revealing. It's a lot less revealing than most of the glitz outfits," said Dickey.

Little Paisley said she liked the homemade costume. But our interview had barely begun when she started squirming to get out of it. First, she took off the wig because it was itchy. When mom put the wig back on, Paisley took it off again. Then she took the boots off.

McInerney noted to Dickey, "Based on what I see, it looks like she hates the costume."

"When she does a pageant, she usually has this on for just a few minutes," said Dickey.

Dickey says she had no idea the costume would cause the outrage it has.

"It was a really cute routine. I did not see any harm in it. Had I known that it would cause this controversy I probably would not have done that. Do I think it harmed her in any way? Absolutely not," said Dickey.

McInerney asked, "What does Paisley think she's dressed up as?"

"Paisley has no idea who she is dressed as, neither did any of the other girls," replied Dickey.

The incident is the second Toddlers and Tiaras uproar in a week. The mother of another 4-year-old also sparked outrage when she gave her daughter fake boobs and butt for a Dolly Parton outfit.

The View's Sherri Shepherd frowned on both outfits, saying, "When are we going to stop sexualizing our children in the name of being silly and over-the-top. Your job is protect your child."

Controversy is only making the TLC show more popular. Last night Kristin Chenoweth told Jay Leno she's hooked on the program.

"It's so wrong it's right," said Chenoweth.

McInerney asked, "People are calling you an unfit mother. They're appalled by your choices. How do you react to that?"

"I am not an unfit mom. I don't doubt my motherhood at all. I'm one of the best moms I know," said Dickey.
