Oprah Winfrey was in tears as she received an honorary Oscar® for her humanitarian work.

"It's unimaginable that I would be standing before you, voted by the Board of Governors," said Oprah as she started crying.

INSIDE EDITION was there for Oprah's first ever Oscar®.

She looked elegant in a red gown with a plunging neckline.

Some of her closest friends and family were on hand, including longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham, best friend Gayle King, sister Pat, who she only learned about last year, and Maria Shriver.

"I feel blessed to have you as my friend," said Shriver.

Oprah's buddy John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston flew in for the event at the Kodak Theatre ballroom in Hollywood.

"Tonight should be one of those nights you go out and celebrate all night again.Tequila!" said Travolta.

The crowd gave Oprah a standing ovation, one of several she would get on the magical night.

"To receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award means more to me than any film, any acclaim, even an Oscar®," said Oprah.

On the red carpet, all the buzz was about Billy Crystal replacing Eddie Murphy as Oscar® host.

Stars like Melissa McCarthy and Glenn Close are looking forward to seeing Crystal's return.

"I get really excited, because I'm a sucker for an opening number," McCarthy said.

"I think he'll do a magnificent job," said Close.
