Mission Impossible Star Jeremy Renner Escapes Ax Attack

Jeremy Renner narrowly escaped being attacked with an ax when a bar fight broke out in Thailand where he's shooting his next film. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.
It was a terrifying situation for famed actor Jeremy Renner as he was nearly attacked by a midievel-looking ax wielded by one of his attackers.
Renner, who stars alongside Tom Cruise in the hit Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, was in a bar with friends near a luxurious resort in Thailand when a wild fight broke out about 4:30 Thursday morning.
Police say six men who work at the bar are now charged with attempted murder after they attacked one of Renner's friends because he dropped a drinking glass on the floor.
A knife was used to stab Renner's buddy in the stomach. The lethal battle ax slashed him in the back. He's now listed in stable condition.
Cops say 20 people got into the wild melee, but Renner wasn't hurt and his publicist tells INSIDE EDITION, "He was not involved or injured. Fight broke out and he exited."
Renner is one of Hollywood's rising stars. He was nominated for Best Actor for The Hurt Locker, and Best Supporting Actor for last year's The Town.
He's now shooting a new Jason Bourne movie in the Philippines. But the ax he just came face-to-face with in Thailand is terrifyingly real.
