Melissa Gilbert was rushed to the hospital after hitting her head during her performance on Dancing With the Stars. INSIDE EDITION reports from backstage.
There was a medical crisis on Dancing with the Stars when Melissa Gilbert banged her head and was rushed to the hospital with a concussion.
"If you're wondering why Melissa and Maks aren't here she injured herself and as a precaution she's gone to the hospital to get checked out," said Dancng with the Stars host Tom Bergeron.
It happened in the middle of her paso doble with Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Watching the dance, you can see that as Chmerkovskiy dropped her head to the floor and walks around her, Gilbert hit her head harder than anyone realizes.
As she walked toward the judges, you could see her grab the back of her head. A few minutes later she said she was dizzy and nauseous, and the other dancers knew something was wrong.
"I saw her laying on the sofa, so they were rushing us out," said Gladys Knight.
"We didn't know until she came up and was complaining of—not complaining—but she had dizzy symptoms," said Sherri Shepherd.
Fellow contestant Gavin DeGraw actually carried Gilbert to the ambulance.
Late last night Gilbert tweeted that she was ok.
"I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of," said Gilbert.
