Melissa McCarthy Isn't Alone as Isabel Toledo Partners with Lane Bryant
Melissa McCarthy isn't the only woman taking matters into her own hands with fashion designs for plus-size women. INSIDE EDITION caught up with designer Isabel Toledo who's entering the market.
Melissa McCarthy has some competition in the world of plus-sized fashion designs!
High-end designer Isabel Toledo is one of Michelle Obama's favorites. She designed the first lady's ensemble for the 2009 Inauguration. Now, she's teamed up with fashion retailer Lane Bryant to bring couture fashion to the plus-size world.
"It was important for me to create beautiful garments that were available to women of all sizes," said Toledo.
She's designed a shift dress with a matching jacket that is perfect for the office, a black lace cocktail dress just right for a night out, and a patterned shift dress that coordinates with a metallic coat.
Showing INSIDE EDITION a look inspired by Michelle Obama's inauguration outfit, Toledo said, "It's a coat with a dress underneath."
A recent study found that the average woman is a size 14, so there's plenty of room for Isabel Toledo and Melissa McCarthy in the world of full figured fashion.
"The joy of dressing is every woman's right," Toledo told INSIDE EDITION.
