USA World Cup Win Sets Off Celebrations Nationwide

It was the moment that sent America wild, setting off ecstatic celebrations across the nation.

Fans screamed in celebration in New York, Washington D.C., Denver, Chicago, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and in bars in countless towns and cities.

And on Rio's famed Copacabana Beach, fans went crazy.

It was a night for heroes. Clint Dempsey scored the first goal after just 30 seconds, but 30 minutes later, ouch!  He caught a high kick in the face and bravely played the rest of the match with a broken nose.

Then, another hero—21year-old John Brooks scored the winning goal against Ghana. Born and raised in Germany, Brooks' father is a U.S. Serviceman. He has a map of Berlin tattooed on his left elbow, and a map of Illinois, his dad's home state, tattooed on his right.

Team USA.'s victory literally lit up social media with 4.9 million tweets that flared across the whole nation when the USA won.  

President Obama sent a good-luck video to the team before the game, saying, "Go Team USA! Show the world what we're made of."

But there's also cause for concern at the World Cup today as disturbing video surfaced showing thousands of fans at the stadium in Rio climbing stairs that look dangerously unstable as it shook under the mass of humanity.
