Legendary lyricist Gerry Goffin, ex-husband of Carole King is dead at the age of 75.
Brooklyn-born Goffin wrote the lyrics to many top hits. His songwriting partnership with Carole King and their troubled marriage is at the heart of the Broadway hit, Beautiful.
Just two weeks ago, a scene from the show was featured at the Tony Awards, showing the young couple composing their first big hit.
Carole King said in a statement: "Gerry Goffin was my first love. Gerry was a good man whose words will resonate for generations to come."
