INSIDE EDITION has obtained court documents showing the woman who accused Al Gore of sexual assault made abuse claims against another man twelve years ago.
Molly Hagerty, the Portland masseuse who has accused Gore of attacking her in a hotel in 2006, sought a restraining order against an ex-boyfriend in Portland, Oregon in March 1998. Hagerty's request for the restraining order was denied by the judge on the same day it was filed.
The nine page document, filed in Multnomah Court, was filled out by Hagerty and indicates that she and the man named had been "involved in a sexually intimate relationship." In seeking the restraining order, Hagerty was asked to describe the most serious incident of abuse which had taken place in the previous six months. She wrote, "He showed up at my place of work – I immediately fled. His presence and demeanor were threatening to me."
Hagerty checked a box on the form indicating the man's actions placed her "in fear of immediate serious bodily injury."
When asked to describe other incidents of abuse, Hagerty alleged two occasions that took place in 1996 – two years prior. She writes that in December 1996, the man "spoke in a menacing tone" to her. She also writes that in July 1996, he assaulted her in a public park. She claims to have suffered injuries for which she sought medical attention.
She signed and filed the documents in Multnomah Circuit Court on March 27, 1998. That same day, the judge denied Hagerty's petition without giving a reason.
As in the Gore case (in which Hagerty failed to show up for scheduled interviews with police on three occasions), INSIDE EDITION has also obtained court dockets showing Hagerty has been cited for three traffic violations since 2004 and in each case, failed to appear before the court on the charges. She was convicted in 2004 and 2007 for speeding and again in 2007 for failing to "obey traffic control." She was most recently cited for the latter infraction again last April, and upon failing to appear at the arraignment, indicated to the court that she had been in the hospital at the time. She has pleaded not guilty and the case is currently pending in Multnomah Circuit Court.
INSIDE EDITION also obtained copies of Hagerty's divorce settlement. Citing "irreconcilable differences," the couple was granted a divorce in 1990 after less than nine years of marriage. They had no children.
