'Operation Oscar:' Unprecedented Security At Academy Awards
Security is going to be tighter than ever Sunday at the Academy Awards, and a crazy moment just outside the Dolby Theatre where the Oscars take place reinforces that police can’t let their guard down. INSIDE EDITION has more.
There was a security scare as a car did donuts right near the Dolby Theatre where final preparations are underway for Sunday's Oscars telecast.
The driver spun the car in circles before coming to a stop. He claimed there could be explosives in the trunk!
The bomb squad sent a robot to blast open the trunk, just in case. It turned out there were no explosives and the driver was taken away for psychiatric evaluation.
INSIDE EDITION's Victoria Recaño was there. She said that the scary incident came as officials prepared for what will be the most secure Oscars ever. Everyone is on high alert following recent terror attacks in Europe and the ISIS threat from overseas. One thousand LAPD, FBI, and Homeland Security personnel are teaming up in an extraordinary effort they're calling, "Operation Oscar."
Once they get past security, the presenters and winners will relax inside the Architectural Digest Greenroom. INSIDE EDITION got a sneak peek inside.
It was designed by none other than Julianne Moore, a favorite to win Best Actress.
For the first time, there's a selfie station where the stars can post selfies straight to Twitter.
In the meantime, we heard a remarkable allegation today from a previous Oscar winner. Mo'Nique, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious in 2010, said she was blackballed after her big win. She said she hasn't worked in five years!
Mo'Nique told The Hollywood Reporter she has been blackballed because of her reputation as being "difficult to work with."
The battle for Sunday's Best Picture is heating up. The frontrunners are Birdman and Boyhood, a movie that took 12 years to make! But, American Sniper is said to be closing in and could pull off an upset.
