Alice Johnson Had Never Heard of Kim Kardashian Before Receiving Her Help in Getting Out of Jail

The two met for the first time a week after the 63-year-old woman was released from a federal prison, where she had served more than 21 years for nonviolent charges related to drug possession and money laundering.

Kim Kardashian West and Alice Marie Johnson have come together for an emotional first meeting after the great-grandmother was freed from prison, thanks to the reality star’s appeal for President Trump to commute Johnson's life sentence.

Kardashian West and Johnson met in Mississippi Wednesday, one week after the 63-year-old was released from a federal prison, where she had served more than 21 years for nonviolent charges related to drug possession and money laundering.

Johnson’s case caught the attention of Kardashian West, who first tweeted to her 60 million followers that her sentence was “so unfair.”

Kardashian West continued to focus on Johnson’s case.

“Because I knew that I had the resources to do that,” she told the "Today" show while seated alongside Johnson. “It became this mission that I just didn’t want to give up.”

During their first interview together, Johnson admitted she didn’t know who Kardashian West was when she became involved in her case.

"As soon as I found out who she was, I started getting every magazine I could find," Johnson said. "I started reading everything that I could about her. And everyone was amazed. And I was amazed, too."

Kardashian West said she was in talks with the White House for seven months working on Johnson’s behalf.

She first called Ivanka Trump and eventually secured a meeting with President Trump himself. One week later, Johnson walked out of prison a free woman.

It was Kardashian West who delivered the good news to Johnson that she was going home.

“When she said that, I went into full-fledged Pentecostal holy dance," Johnson said. "I started screaming and jumping."

She added: "'Thank you' is not big enough. I think I have to walk it out. I have to walk my 'thank you' out. I have to live it out for her, for my family, for the supporters."

Speaking to Inside Edition Thursday, Johnson said Kardashian West also gave her a tutorial on Snapchat. The verdict?

"I love Snapchat so much," Johnson said.

But she's easing into social media for now. "I don't have Twitter yet. I don't have Facebook," she said. "I don't want to go too fast."
