This story has been updated with a more detailed statement from Michael Sanchez.
A Wall Street Journal report claims Michael Sanchez leaked his sister Lauren Sanchez's sexually charged texts with the Amazon founder to the National Enquirer, which then used them to report that the world's richest man was having an affair.
"We don't know whether she knowingly allowed him to take those off her phone or exactly how he obtained them," Wall Street Journal reporter, Michael Rothfeld, told Inside Edition.
Before the story broke, however, Bezos announced his divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos.
"We want to make people aware of a development in our lives," read a statement from the pair in January. "As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends."
Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post, had speculated the leak came from his foes in the Trump administration.
But according to the Journal, "the reality is simpler" — and closer to home. Michael allegedly sold the couple's secrets to the paper.
"It seems that his initial instinct was not to want to think that Lauren Sanchez or her brother had anything to do with this," Rothfeld said.
When Inside Edition asked Michael Sanchez about the Wall Street Journal Report, he told us: "With an avalanche of real news, including two terrorist attacks and zero evidence to support Jeff Bezos' vast right wing conspiracy theory involving President Trump and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, WSJ's report on old rumors from 'anonymous' sources is disappointing. I didn't dignify the rumors last month and I'm not going to dignify them now."
He also said that he "never had access to" Jeff Bezos' nude selfies.
Since reports of the affair were published, Bezos and Lauren have not been seen together in public.
