East Coast Supermarket Chain Stew Leonard's Unveils Largest Cheese Sculpture
More than 4,000 pounds of cheese are packed into the sculpture.
This cheese most definitely stands alone.
At 3,462 pounds, a gigantic chunk of cheddar has been presented as the world's biggest cheese statute by the East Coast grocery chain Stew Leonard's.
Professional dairy carver Sarah "The Cheese Lady" Kaufmann created a 5-foot sculpture from a hunk of cheddar from Henning's Wisconsin Cheese weighing more than 4,000 pounds.
On it, she carved the store's cheese policy: "Rule one, the customer is always right. Rule two, if the customer is ever wrong, reread rule one."
The remnants of the carving, weighing 551 pounds, were used to make grilled cheese sandwiches. They were handed out while Kaufmann completed her yellow-tinged trophy.
The dairy masterpiece is currently on display at the Stew's market in Norwalk, Connecticut. Store owners say they are awaiting a visit from a representative of the Guinness World Record organization.
The current holder of the world's biggest cheese sculpture is The Melt, a restaurant chain that sponsored a Wisconsin cheddar 1,524-pound burger. Make that a cheeseburger.
