Sniffles, a 12-year-old dog, is currently being taken care of by the Poodle and Pooch Rescue in Florida.
Sniffles might not have a button nose – or any nose at all – but shelter workers at a Florida animal rescue hopes a family will fall in love with the senior pup anyway.
The 12-year-old dog has no nose and a crooked smile, but a heart of gold.
“He’s a happy little guy despite all he has been through,” Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida wrote on its Facebook page.
The shelter explained the pup was turned over to them by animal control in poor shape.
“The boy was full of hookworms and whipworms,” it said in a statement on their website. “We only see whipworms when dogs were kept in a filthy, outside living environment for a long period of time, usually with breeders or those who think it’s OK for a dog to live in a backyard.”
The shelter, which takes in mostly elderly, injured or special needs dogs, said it is working to heal Sniffles of his worms and give him dental surgery for a brand new smile.
While he is not ready to be adopted, shelter workers hope he will have a loving home lined up once he is medically cleared.
