Stars Turn Up to Honor Alexander McQueen at Met Costume Institute Gala

Some of the world's biggest stars were on the red carpet at the Met Costume Institute Gala honoring late designer Alexander McQueen and INSIDE EDITION was there.

Some of the biggest celebrity names in the world walked the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art honoring the late designer Alexander McQueen. The exhibit inside the museum is called "Savage Beauty."

"It's the epitome of playing dress up," Jessica Alba told INSIDE EDITION.

"It's not every day that you get to go to the Met Ball. It feels like prom," said Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie

And a big topic on the red carpet was the death of Osama bin Laden.

"I have nothing but pride for this country. I commend Obama for making that decision," said Fergie's husband Josh Duhamel.

"It's so incredible, it's such a wonderful moment for our country," said Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.

"We went from a gorgeous wedding, a fairy tale wedding, to reality and the greatest news we could have," Barbara Walters said.

Singer John Legend was at the White House Correspondents' Dinner over the weekend, where President Obama gave no hint whatsoever of the top-secret operation that was already underway.

"Why didn't you tell me, Mr. President?" joked Legend. "Why didn't you let me know?"

Rihanna's gown was designed by Stella McCartney, but the singer explained they collaborated on the gown over e-mail!

"She designed from scratch for me, over the internet, because we're both very busy!" said Rihanna.

And Beyoncé's gown by Emilio Pucci was so skintight that she needed help navigating the stairs!

She and husband Jay-Z got booed for moving too quickly past photographers.

And actress and fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker spoke of the tribute to her late friend Alexander McQueen.

"Obviously it's bittersweet; I think it's buoyed by Sarah Burton's being here tonight, with her great triumph recently in London," she told INSIDE EDITION.

McQueen's protégée Sarah Burton designed Kate Middleton's widely adored wedding gown. Naomi Campbell's dress was also by Burton.

"It was a really amazing wedding, it was fun and young, and she looked beautiful, stunning," Campbell said.

Taylor Swift had praise for the gown as well: "I thought it was gorgeous, it's like you're watching history."

Twilight's Ashley Green and Swift and used to date the same Jonas brother, but they greeted each other warmly when they met on the red carpet.

Taking a cue from the royal wedding, Demi Moore wore an elaborate fascinator.

Meanwhile, Madonna admitted that she skipped Will and Kate's big day.

"It's my only day to sleep in for God's sakes!" she explained.
