Ole Miss student Ally Kostial was found dead of eight gunshot wounds on Saturday.

The father of a man who was arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old Mississippi college student insisted his son is innocent.

Ole Miss student Ally Kostial was found dead of eight gunshot wounds on Saturday near Sardis Lake, nearly 20 miles from campus, according to reports.

Brandon Theesfeld, 22, who attended college with Kostial, was arrested on suspicion of murder Monday.

“I know my son is innocent,” Daniel Theesfeld told WMC-TV in a statement about his son. “And I have reasons to believe that I can’t share anything now. But I would ask everybody to please give him the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise.”

Kostial was seen on a surveillance camera at the door of a bar on Friday and then on another camera at Lakeside Market in Como with Brandon a while later, according to reports.

Brandon has been suspended from school since his arrest, according to reports. He has not yet entered a plea.
