Woman Who Killed Boyfriend Over Date With Miss Ohio Gets 40 Years, Shows No Remorse

Shayna Hubers had no apologies for the family of her victim when she was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

A woman who killed her boyfriend in a jealous rage the day he was going on a date with a former Miss Ohio showed no remorse as she was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Shayna Hubers, 24, was convicted of shooting 29-year-old attorney Ryan Poston six times. He had made plans with the Miss USA contestant Audrey Bolte.

"We want our son back," Poston's mom tearfully said outside court. "He could not be mean to anybody and she took advantage of that at every opportunity."

At her sentencing, Hubers made a lot of apologies  - but none to Poston's mother.

“I'm sorry for my family and I'm sorry for my friends for letting them down and I'm sorry for any hardship I've caused other people,” Hubers said.

“I am sorry for the money that my parents have had to spend on attorneys.”

The prosecutor seemed stunned by Hubers’ lack of remorse.

“At what point in time does she talk about what she took and what she did, and the people she hurt, besides her parents monetarily? And that's still just all about her,” she said in court.

“She's not remorseful. She showed her true self in court, and I think that's the Shayna Hubers that we knew, and now it's the Shayna Hubers that everybody else knows."

Hubers claimed self-defense, but the judge didn't buy it.

“All this story about him throwing you around the room that night, I don't believe a word of it,” the judge said.

“What I think happened in that apartment is little more than cold-blooded murder, probably as cold- blooded an act as I've been associated with in the criminal justice system in the 30-plus years I've been in it.”

Hubers showed zero emotion as Poston 's family embraced in the courtroom. His dad said he was pleased with the sentence - but nothing will bring back his only son.

“This spoiled little rotten little evil thing, she is going where she deserves to be, and good riddance,” he said.
