Daniel Fleetwood, the cancer-stricken Star Wars fan, has passed away days after seeing the latest chapter in the saga.
The cancer-stricken Star Wars fan whose dying wish was to see The Force Awakens has passed away.

Daniel Fleetwood, 31, had suffered from a rare form of connective tissue cancer called spindle cell sarcoma. He outlived the prognosis of one to two months, which he was given in September.
His wife, Ashley, shared the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
She wrote: "Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero."
She also shared the last selfie they took together.
Daniel had doubted he would live to see the December opening of The Force Awakens, so an online campaign called #ForceForDaniel popped up to help spread the word and convince Disney, the studio behind the film, to hold a special screening for him.
Stars of the franchise like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher John Boyega, Peter Mayhew and Bad Robot, Star Wars director J.J. Abrams’ production company, endorsed the campaign so Daniel can see the latest chapter in the popular sci-fi saga.

Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, said he is “elated” that Daniel was able to see the latest installment last week.
