Outpouring of Celebrity Support After Wife of Comedian Patton Oswalt Found Dead at 46

Twitter lit up Saturday with an outpouring of celebrity support for comedian Patton Oswalt, whose true crime writer wife of a decade has died at 46.

Michelle McNamara, who founded the website TrueCrimeStory.com, married Oswalt in 2005 and the couple have a seven-year-old daughter.

McNamara died in her sleep Thursday, according to Oswalt's publicist.

While declining to elaborate, Kevin McLaughlin of Main Stage Public Relations said the death "was a complete shock to her family and friends, who loved her dearly."

McNamara, a Notre Dame graduate, earned her masters degree in creative writing from the University of Minnesota.

McNamara's website covered breaking crime stories and cold cases.

Her comedian husband is known for his roles on television hits such as King of Queens, for film work including Young Adult alongside Charlize Theron and for voice work in animated films and television shows.

Oswalt is also an active presence on Twitter, where his colleagues reached out over the weekend with condolences.

Much of the support came Oswalt's fellow comedians including Mike Birbiglia, Jim Gaffigan, and Kristen Schaal.

Actor Kevin James, who starred in The King of Queens, also reached out to Oswalt as did Mia Farrow, Michael Ian Black, Margaret Cho and dozens of other entertainment industry notables.
