She appeared on Inside Edition, Fox News, CNN and other outlets, claiming The Times twisted her words about her former flame Trump.

“I'm extremely upset. Basically, they lied to me,” she told Inside Edition Monday.

But who is this outspoken woman who has suddenly become a key figure in the 2016 presidential race?

Brewer Lane was a contestant in the 1988 Miss USA competition — almost a decade before Trump bought the pageant.

She has also had a successful modeling career, once winning a "Best Body on the Beach" competition.

In 1989, she was a three-time winner on "Star Search” as a talented spokesmodel.

As The Times documents, Brewer Lane began dating the real estate mogul after they met at a pool party in 1990 at his Florida mansion Mar-a-Lago, shortly after he separated from first wife Ivana.

Brewer Lane was 26 at the time. Trump was 44.

Sher currently lives in North Carolina with her teen daughter. She says she still has fond memories of her romance with Trump, a relationship that ended when she moved to Los Angeles to work in films and TV.

She never quite made it big. Her biggest role was in the 1992 comedy, Round Trip to Heaven with Corey Feldman.

While in L.A., she dated another billionaire developer -- Mohammad Hadid, the father of supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid. They were engaged for 3 years in the early 1990s, but never married.

Brewer Lane eventually married rock star Jani Lane from the band Warrant. They had a daughter, Madison, 19, and later divorced in 2005. He died in 2011 at 47.

Trump also moved on from Brewer Lane, marrying Marla Maples. When their marriage went bust in 1999, he married Melania in 2005.

Brewer Lane has some words of support for her former lover as he makes his way on the campaign trail, “I am behind you.”

In a statement to Inside Edition, The New York Times said: "Ms. Brewer Lane was quoted fairly, accurately and at length. The story provides context for the reader including that the swimsuit scene was the 'start of a whirlwind romance' between Ms. Brewer Lane and Mr. Trump."
