Coast Guard Officers See Kitten Floating in the Sea, Save It With Mouth-to-Mouth

Italian Coast Guard officials lifeless kitten in the waters off the coast of Marsala, Sicily and brought it aboard their ship to revive him.

The cat, which was nicknamed Charlie, drew the attention of the crew on Friday as they were returning to port.

One of the members saw the cat floating in the water and jumped in to save him. Once Charlie was brought on board, they began giving him mouth-to-mouth to revive the kitten.

An officer began administering CPR, even giving the kitten small chest compressions. At one point, they turned the cat upside down and pushed the water out of its body and through its nose and mouth.

The Italian Coast Guard posted about the incident on their social media pages where they showed off the video of how Charlie was saved.

Charlie has been named an honorary member of the Coast Guard and will be adopted by the crew after it is done recovering in a local veterinarian’s office.
