A 19-year-old Missouri woman allowed her boyfriend to cut her arm and suck her blood during a conversation about vampires, and later stabbed him several times during an argument, police said.
Victoria Vanatter pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree domestic assault in Springfield Monday. She remains jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Her public defender declined Tuesday to comment, saying he hasn’t spoken to his client, The Associated Press reported.
Vanatter called 911, saying someone in her home was bleeding, according to police. She told investigators she stabbed her boyfriend in the back and shoulder after he hit her, according to a probable-cause statement, the wire service reported.
Officers discovered a heart drawn in blood on the home’s living room wall and the words “I’m sorry” scrawled on a kitchen counter, the document said.
Vanatter said she often cut herself to drink her blood and believed she “could become a serial killer,” investigator Scott Hill wrote in the statement.
The boyfriend refused to cooperate with police and said his wounds were self-inflicted, police said. He was not identified.
He was treated and released from a local hospital, authorities said.
Vanatter is on probation for convictions of felony assault and felony domestic assault in other counties, authorities said.
