The lone survivor of a deadly stabbing rampage that left four children and their father dead has described the horror of the attack in newly released documents.
Diana Romero, at just 9 years old, endured the unthinkable this month when cops say she witnessed her own mother — Isabel Martinez — fly into a homicidal rage and murder her father and four young siblings.
Diana was also stabbed but pulled through. In newly-released Division of Family and Children's Services documents, the little girl recalled to authorities the moment she says her mother went into the kitchen and retrieved a knife.
In the documents, obtained by KHOU, investigators said Diana told them the family went to Savannah in the days before the slayings and that her mother and father seemed to be getting along well.
But she said all that changed when, according to Diana, her mother stabbed her siblings as they slept.
Diana said her mother also cut herself before turning the knife on the 9-year-old. Diana said her mother told her to forgive her, and that she loved her but that she was going to Jesus.
Diana said she told her mother she didn't want to go see Jesus.
According to Diana, her mother then woke up her father and showed him what she'd done. Before he could get help, the little girl said her mother fatally stabbed him as well.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help Diana's extended family pay for her medical expenses and for the funerals of 33-year-old Martin Romero, and the four children: 2-year-old Axel Romero, 4-year-old Dillan Romero, 7-year-old Dacota Romero, 10-year-old Isabela Martinez.
Isabel Martinez stands charged in the four murders. She has denied the charges and, in an interview, reportedly told authorities it was her neighbor who slaughtered the family.
