Hotel Valet Parks Porsche Carrera Underneath SUV
“I think the valet wasn’t aware of the power that you get when starting a Porsche," a witness said.
Talk about a tight spot.
A valet at Sydney’s Hyatt Regency Hotel somehow managed to park a Porsche Carrera under an SUV Thursday morning.
"When I first saw this I thought it was being shot for a TV show or a movie, but apparently it's real,” witness Jonathon Bayle told APTN.
Another onlooker, Jonathan Bouzaid, posted pictures of the scene on his Instagram page, and speculated the valet may have been unfamiliar with the sports car, which has a starting price of $182,000 U.S. dollars in Australia.
“[I] saw the valet hit the car in front from a parked position, he then panicked and hit the accelerator causing the Porsche to go further underneath the orange car and pushing the white car into the bollards,” Bouzaid said in a statement. “I think the valet wasn’t aware of the power that you get when starting a Porsche.”
He explained there wasn’t much noise when it happened, “just the odd crunch here and there.”
Fortunately, the valet survived the ordeal uninjured after emergency workers successfully cut him out of the soft-top car.
Hotel management explained in a statement they would conduct a full investigation with the authorities and the owners of both vehicles.
