Kathie Lee Gifford Tears Up After 'Today' Renames Plaza in Her Honor
Kathie Lee Gifford's last day on the "Today" show is Friday.
Kathie Lee Gifford held back tears as she received a big surprise from her colleagues at the “Today” show.
They unveiled that they would be re-naming the plaza at 30 Rock in New York City as “Kathie Lee Gifford Plaza” to commemorate her 40-year television career.
The host was visibly touched, fighting off emotion on ahead of her final day on "Today," which will be Friday.
“I am so grateful to everyone that's watched us through the years so grateful for our crew and all the people who work here. I have been in this business 180 years and I’ve never worked with a greater group of people in my life, so thank you!" she declared.
Inside the studio, the entire “Today” show team raised a toast.
Gifford told Jimmy Fallon this week on "The Tonight Show" that she is hoping to start a film career after leaving daytime TV.
