Las Vegas Parking Violators Can Pay Off Fines by Donating School Supplies

The program runs until July 19.
Instead of paying their fine, Las Vegas residents can now pay off their parking tickets by donating school supplies.
For one month only, those caught violating parking rules will be able to bring in new school supplies to pay off their fine, according to a press release.
The donated pencils, pens, erasers, dry erase markers and scissors, to name a few, will then be sent to a nonprofit affiliated with the Public Education Foundation.
The supplies must be of equal or greater value than the fine and parking violators can prove the supplies’ worth by providing a receipt of the purchase.
The decision comes after a unanimous vote by city council and will run until July 19.
