Long-Lost Relatives of Meghan Markle on Her Mother's Side Hope She Will Stop By With Prince Harry

The Raglands of Georgia found out they were related to Markle just before the royal wedding.

While Meghan Markle’s family has been notorious for starting drama in the past year, Meghan’s cousins on her mother's side are proud to learn they're related to the Duchess of Sussex.

The relatives of Markle on Doria Ragland's side of the family have largely stayed out of the spotlight, but Inside Edition has learned much more about them.

Many of Ragland's family members still live in Georgia after Meghan’s third great-grandfather, Steve Ragland, was born into slavery in 1848.

Meghan’s third great-grandmother was the first of her mother's family to move to Los Angeles, where Meghan was born in 1981.

Some of Meghan’s cousins, however, just learned about their bond with Markle just before the royal wedding in May. They hope Prince Harry and their famous cousin visit Georgia soon.

"We would love to have you at our reunion... and Harry — and the queen," one cousin said.

The Raglands said they are filled with joy about Meghan’s new life.

"We're all proud, proud to be a part of it ... and we just wish her the best — we really, really do," another cousin said.
