Archaeologists Find Life-Size Mayan Warrior Statue in Mexico’s Oxkintok Ruins

Archaeologists recently unearthed a life-size statue of a warrior. The likeness was found at the Oxkintok archaeological site, in Mexico’s Yucatan. A Mayan city thrived there from 200 to 900 in the Common Era. Its ruins are still being studied, and after all this time they still have some surprises. Restoration work on one of the site’s structures revealed the headless limestone sculpture. It’s about 5-and-a-half feet tall and is thought to represent a male figure.
