Why Some Thieves Are Stealing Cars’ EV Charging Cables

Home surveillance video captures the moment an alleged thief stole a car owner's electric vehicle charging cable. The suspect checked out the cars parked on a California home driveway. After spotting the car charging cable, he unplugs the cord and then goes to the electrical outlet. The suspect unplugs the other end of the cable and holds up the 15-foot cord before taking off. The car owner, Bob Schneiderman, tells Inside Edition he now padlocks the charger box to prevent future theft.
