Family Leaving New York for Suburbs Says the City Lost Its Appeal Under Lockdown

It’s a bittersweet moving day for Manhattan family Anna and James Cockerville, who are packing up their two-bedroom apartment and heading to the suburbs with their two sons. They had been considering moving for some time, and then the pandemic hit. They say they will miss the city, but without much of what makes New York appealing - the people, culture, and places they enjoyed - it felt like a good time to get out of the city. They’re part of a growing trend of New Yorkers headed to the suburbs.
