This Is Why Alaskan Kodiak Bears Are Roaming the Streets of Florida

Authorities are trying to figure out how two Alaskan bears ended up in Florida. A man called for help after he spotted two small cubs. He recognized they weren’t the black bears that are common in northwest Florida. The cubs are Kodiak bears, a unique subspecies of the brown or grizzly bear, which are native to Alaska. Alaska Department of Fish and Game says Kodiak bears can stand at over 10 feet tall when on their hind legs and weigh more than 1,500 pounds.
