Meghan McCain Announces Engagement on ‘The View,’ Said It Happened Amid Dad’s Cancer Treatment

News of her engagement quickly circulated on social media.
Meghan McCain delivered major news on The View Thursday morning as the talk show's newest co-host announced she was engaged.
The 33-year-old revealed that her fiancé, conservative blogger Ben Domenech, popped the question as her father, Arizona Sen. John McCain, was fighting brain cancer.
The news of her engagement circulated around social media Wednesday night and she set the record straight Thursday morning.
"You have read something about me on the internet last night," she said. "I am engaged. We've been together for years, we've been engaged for a while. It was a secret. I was hoping people wouldn't find out, but people talk sometimes.
“Well, we were at Mayo Clinic and my father had his scan and we got engaged because we decided to sort of celebrate life and celebrate being alive.”
Following the announcement, Sen. McCain took to Twitter to congratulate his daughter and his future son-in-law.
