Scarlett Johansson Denies 'Auditioning' to Be Tom Cruise's Girlfriend After He Divorced Nicole Kidman

The actress is lashing out at the claim by a former Scientologist.

Scarlett Johansson wants everyone to know she did not audition to be Tom Cruise's girlfriend after his split from Nicole Kidman.

A former Scientologist made the claim on Megyn Kelly's hour of the "Today" show earlier this week.

Brendan Tighe says he saw the "Lost in Translation" star's name on a list when he worked security at the Scientology Celebrity Center in Hollywood.

Tighe claims the audition occurred in 2004 after Cruise had split from the wife and was reportedly looking around for a new girlfriend who shared his Scientology beliefs.

On Thursday, Johansson slammed the report.

“The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning," the actress said in a statement. "I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships."

The church reportedly also held auditions for suitable Tom Cruise-girlfriend material with Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner and even Lindsay Lohan.

The actresses were supposedly told they were auditioning for "Mission: Impossible III."

The Church of Scientology is refuting that report and is also refuting the claims made by Tighe.

"Brendan Tighe was a Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization security guard/night watchman from 2002 to 2009,” Church of Scientology International's Karin Pouw told NBC. “The 'access' he boasts of having was largely limited to viewing security cameras from a guard booth. He was removed from that position for dereliction of duty."
