Stepmom of Student Brittany Zamora Had Sex With Calls Her 'Foul' and 'Ugly'
"You deserve to be put away until you're of an age where you cannot bear children of your own," the boy's stepmother said.
As Brittany Zamora learned her fate for grooming and having sex with her 13-year-old student, the boy's stepmother called his abuser "foul" and "ugly."
Zamora was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual conduct with a minor, as well as other reduced charges of public indecency and molestation, according to court records, for having an ongoing sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy in her class at Las Brisas Academy in Arizona.
At the sentencing hearing, the boy's stepmother had some harsh words for Zamora.
"Let this sink into your head, Brittany. Your mind is foul, your heart is ugly and you disgust me," she said.
She added: "You deserve to be put away until you're of an age where you cannot bear children of your own."
The family's attorney said the boy remains traumatized by his encounters with his teacher.
"The family is having to relocate, the kids have had to change schools. He's having difficulty with authority figures. He's having behavioral issues in school," the attorney said.
Zamora cried as she addressed the court, saying that her actions were out of character and that she would like to attend counseling and start a new career when she is out of prison.
But after the hearing, Zamora's attorney suggested that the 13-year-old student was not so innocent in the encounters. "Brittany is not a predator. This was not between a young child and Brittany — this was a teenager," attorney Belen Olmedo Guerra told reporters.
Zamora will spend the rest of her life on probation and must also register as a sex offender. She will receive credit for the more than 400 days she has already spent behind bars.
