A teenager has died after he was struck by a train while he ran into a New York City subway tunnel, officials said.

Police officers saw the unnamed 18-year-old boy jump from the platform onto the tracks at the Bergen Street/Flatbush Avenue station in Brooklyn at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.

The teen started running south through the tunnel, losing the cops who had remained on the platform, police said.

A short time later, the officers were notified someone had been hit by a train near the next southbound stop along the line, Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center, authorities said.

The teen, who had been hit by a Brooklyn College-bound No. 2 train, died at the scene.

His identity was not immediately released, as authorities worked to notify his family.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
