Where Is Melania Trump? Prankster Puts First Lady's Picture on Milk Carton

Melania Trump's latest event is closed to the press.

After 24 days out of the public eye, Melania Trump is set to appear at a reception for Gold Star families at the White House Monday.

But Americans will likely have to wait longer to catch a glimpse of the first lady since the event is closed to the press.

"It is extraordinary in an event like that there would be no cameras," Mary Jordan, senior national correspondent for The Washington Post, told Inside Edition. "This is a moment to celebrate the families of people who've lost loved ones and the whole idea of it ... is to show the country the whole country's gratitude for these families."

On Sunday, Melania's spokesperson announced that she will not be accompanying the president to the annual G7 Summit in Montreal next week. She will also not attend the June 12 meeting with North Korea in Singapore.

"We've never seen anything like this," Jordan said. "Lots of first ladies have played important diplomatic roles and she's just said, 'you know what, I'm not going.'"

The first lady has not been seen in public since she was admitted to the hospital for treatment of a benign kidney condition in May.

The last time she participated in an official event was May 10, when she welcomed American prisoners freed from captivity in North Korea as they returned to the U.S.

Amid the first lady's mysterious absence, one prankster has put her photo on milk cartons. Missing posters has also popped up on lampposts in Manhattan.

Both Bill Maher and John Oliver joked that the oversized letter Trump received from North Korean President Kim Jong Un was actually about Melania.

"If you ever want to see Melania again, put $50,000 bills in small bills by the base of the Washington Monument," Maher joked.

Oliver pretended the letter read, "Donald, it's me. I have run away to North Korea and I'm never coming back. Melania, your third wife."

There was a report she was at Trump's property in Bedminster, N.J., taking care of her mother, who is reportedly battling a serious illness.

Melania's spokeswoman shot down the report, calling it, "False and incorrect."

In a statement to CNN late Monday afternoon, a rep for the first lady said: “Mrs. Trump has always been a strong and independent woman who puts her family, and certainly her health above all else, and that won't change over a rabid press corps."

Last week, the first lady responded to the speculation on Twitter, saying, "I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing. Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!"
