It was no fairy tale ending for a Missouri woman who reportedly told police she accidentally shot her boyfriend while they were drunkenly re-enacting a movie scene.

Kalesha Peterson, 37, allegedly shot her boyfriend, 36-year-old David Dalton, in the head and then called police to their Fulton home. Officers attempted lifesaving measures inside the couple’s bedroom upon arrival, but Dalton died on the scene, according to reports.

Peterson told authorities that she and Dalton had been drinking whiskey and she’d taken prescription drugs before the incident unfolded, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by prosecutors. Peterson had a gun in her hand "when the weapon discharged," the document states.

The gun was recovered the bedroom when officials arrived, authorities said.

"Drinking and playing with loaded weapons is not a good thing in any manner or sense," Lt. Bill Ladwig of the Fulton Police Department told WMIZ-TV. "This was just an unfortunate isolated incident."

It is not clear which movie the couple was allegedly playing out.

"Peterson stated that she attempted to stop the bleeding from the gunshot to Dalton's head," according to the affidavit.

Police reportedly found prescription medications in the home, which Peterson admitted to using, and a breathalyzer, which she voluntarily took, confirmed she had consumed alcohol, according to the affidavit.

Peterson, who is a licensed nurse, is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a firearm.

She has not entered a plea and is being held without bail until a hearing on Friday.
