Woman Jumps for Joy as She's Reunited With Puppy That Was Lost for 2 Weeks
“I wasn’t sure if I was laughing or crying," said Joyce Adams, of Jackson, Mississippi. "I was so excited to see her."
It was a very happy birthday for this Mississippi woman, who has been reunited with her dog Daisy, two weeks after the pup ran away from home.
Joyce Adams, 65, of Jackson could be seen laughing uncontrollably as her dog jumped to land kisses on her face in a video posted to Facebook by Jackson Friends of the Animal Shelter last week.
“I wasn’t sure if I was laughing or crying," Adams told InsideEdition.com. "I was so excited to see her. I don’t know how you measure happiness, but we were both pretty happy."
She explained that Daisy, a husky mix she adopted in February, somehow escaped her yard and became lost.
“If you came by right now and you said, ‘Hi,’ she will follow you, so at first, I was afraid someone had come and stolen her,” Adams explained. “And if you open a car door, doesn’t matter who you are, she’s just going to get right in."
For days, Adams sent emails with photos of Daisy to anyone she knew around the neighborhood, including rescues and shelters. She explained that her pup had not yet been microchipped, and didn’t have a name or phone number on her collar.
Daisy ended up getting picked up by animal control a few blocks from her home, and was eventually put up for adoption at the shelter.
About two weeks later, Adams got a call from Jackson Friends of the Animal Shelter.
“She sent me this picture of this sad looking dog, and she said, ‘Is this your baby?’ I said, 'I don’t know but I’ll come and see,'" Adams said.
When Adams arrived to the shelter and called out her beloved pup’s name, Daisy came running.
Adams said she plans to have Daisy microchipped later this week, fix up any points of escape in her backyard and make sure Daisy is wearing her tags and a leash anytime she isn’t at home.
"I’m glad they picked her up, and I’m glad she’s safe," Adams said. "I’m really, really careful about her now."
