Social media had a royal shock when actress Katharine McPhee shared a Throwback Thursday photo of herself with a young Meghan Markle.

McPhee and Markle are all smiles in the picture, wearing green dresses and bright red lipstick.

"Meghan and I did musicals together as kids. She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me," McPhee captioned the photo.

While McPhee is currently starring in "Waitress the Musical" in London's West End, both women grew up in Los Angeles and caught the acting bug. Markle starred in the USA series "Suits" for seven series before joining the royal family, and McPhee played the lead role in NBC's "Smash" after placing second in the fifth season of "American Idol" in 2006.
