Military Family Reunites with Dog They Thought Had Died 2 Years Ago
A family who thought their dog, Zeus, had died while they were in South Korea have now been reunited with their beloved pup.
After thinking that their dog, Zeus, had passed away, a military family got the shock of their lives when they found out the Rottweiler mix was actually alive and living 3,000 miles away.
Ben, Melody and their two sons left their dog in the care of a friend when the family moved from Fort Bragg, North Carolina to South Korea on a military assignment.
But a few months later, they got a call that the dog had passed away.
After years abroad, the family moved back to the U.S. but relocated to Washington. More than two years later, they learned that Zeus had been found in North Carolina.
A Good Samaritan had found him wandering the streets of Raleigh and took him to the Banfield Pet Hospital, where staff scanned his microchip and contacted the family.
“There are simply no words to describe what we felt when we got that phone call. We were in complete disbelief. Once that brief second had passed, we were all crying. We were frantic with excitement and gratitude," the couple told People magazine.
Zeus had heartworm and couldn't fly back to his family so someone from the hospital offered to drive him the 3,000 miles home.
Two-and-a-half years later, the family was overjoyed to be reunited with their beloved pup and Zeus seems happy to finally be home with his loved ones.
