This Matted, Flea-Infested Dog Found Living on the Streets is Unrecognizable After Rescue
A video shows Violet the dog's incredible transformation after she was found living on the streets in unbearably hot temperatures.
The Maltese dog's fur was completed matted when she was found seeking shade beneath a car as temperatures soared to 100 degrees.
Hope for Paws received a call about the severely matted dog and gained her trust by offering her water and pieces of hamburger, a video of the rescue shows.
After encouraging her to come out, the dog was taken to a shelter and named "Violet." Her hair was filled with fleas and ticks, so she was shaved and washed. She was also treated for anemia and dehydration.
She emerged as a healthy and clean pup - a far cry from how she was found on the streets.
"As her body healed, she transformed into a happy, playful dog!" the rescue group wrote on the video.
She has gone to a foster home, where she is settling in well with other pups.
