Missing Country Singer's Dog Stood Guard Over Friend's Body Until Authorities Arrived

"He wouldn't leave Chase's body until the Warden found him," Craig Strickland's wife wrote on Twitter about the nine-year-old lab.

The dog of missing Arkansas country singer Craig Strickland loyally stood guard over the singer's friend's body until emergency crews searching for the pair found them, the musician's wife said.

Helen Strickland, wife of country rock group Backroad Anthem’s front man, tweeted that their nine-year-old dog, Sam, was found standing over the body of Chase Morland, 22.

"He wouldn't leave Chase's body until the Warden found him," the former Miss Arkansas USA wrote on social media Tuesday, saying that the dog was "fine."

Strickland, 29, and Morland fell out of touch with relatives after the pair went on a duck hunting trip late Saturday in Oklahoma, officials said.

Authorities discovered Morland's body on Sunday following a storm that had capsized their boat.

Strickland's whereabouts were still unknown Wednesday, as a search resumed to look for the singer.

His wife remained hopeful on social media, thanking people for their support before quoting the Bible.

'"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.' - Psalm 56:8," she wrote.

She tweeted a photo of the labrador retriever, calling him "a brave boy." 

Her husband had also commended the pup, writing about one year ago: "Thankful for this best friend I've had for 8 years.. He's an old man now, but still brings back ducks."
